steps have been shown to produce the best recovery and
reduce readmissions to the hospital.

Patients who are diagnosed with heart failure should
- Receive written instructions or educational material on their condition and how to manage it
- Be evaluated for left ventricular systolic (LVS) function before arrival, during hospitalization, or after discharge
- Be prescribed an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) if needed
